Robert James Blakeman, age 76, of Conifer, Colorado, formerly of East Brunswick, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
Robert was born on April 11, 1947, in Englewood, New Jersey, to James and Muriel (Weber) Blakeman. Robert was united in marriage to Kathleen (Walsh) Venezia on July 13, 1986, in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Robert graduated from The Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York with a Bachelor of Architecture. He was a licensed architect in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Virginia and was a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Before opening his own firm, Robert worked for The Hillier Group in Princeton, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Among his major projects were for The Vanguard Group, Capital One, Bell Atlantic, The Wharton School, and J. M. Huber Corporation, where he met his future wife, Kathleen.
Robert's recent project - and one that he was most proud of - was working with BAPS on the Hindu American Religious Center in Robbinsville, New Jersey. Robert was the Architect of Record and designed nearly each and every aspect of the beautiful campus.
Robert is survived by his wife Kathleen and his sons Michael Venezia (Colleen Widmer), Christopher Venezia (Jessica Venezia), and Devon Blakeman; his grandchildren Alexa Clevenger (Derek), Amanda VanWell, and Brianna VanWell; and his great grandchild Jack Gary Clevenger. He is also survived by many loving nephews, their wives, great nieces and nephews.
