Kevin Schweitzberger, Sr. Obituary

Kevin Lee Schweitzberger, a proud Colorado native, U.S. Navy veteran, and lifelong craftsman, passed away suddenly on October 7, 2025.

Born in Denver and raised throughout Colorado, Kevin lived a life defined by hard work, self-reliance, and integrity. After attending Englewood High School and earning his GED in 1979, he served his country in the United States Navy, training in interior communications and hull technology. His time in the service reflected his lifelong commitment to learning, discipline, and doing things right.

Over the years, Kevin became a master of many trades — concrete work, roofing, HVAC, electrical wiring, appliance repair, carpentry, drywall, tile, flooring, and more. There was little he couldn’t build, fix, or restore. His hands were never idle, and his craftsmanship could turn any broken thing into something working again.

Kevin took great pride in his heritage and was deeply interested in his family’s history. He was especially proud of his ancestral ties to Chickasaw Chief Doublehead and to Pocahontas — figures whose courage and resilience he admired. In his retirement, he enjoyed researching genealogy with his daughter, Aimee Taylor, tracing the roots of a family whose story spanned centuries.

Those who knew Kevin will remember his resourcefulness, quiet humor, and dedication to his work. He was a man who found satisfaction in a job done right and who helped others without hesitation or fanfare. His skills were vast, but his greatest gift was his example — to take pride in honest work, keep your word, and never stop learning.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father Keith Eugene Schweitzberger on October 11, 1972; his mother Gale Joann (Norton) Schweitzberger on April 8, 2018; his baby sister Lisa Marie Schweitzberger on July 28, 1963; his older sister Marlene Kay Schweitzberger on October 5, 1983; his baby brother Sean Michael Schweitzberger on September 23, 2025; and his second wife Sandra (Martinez) Gallegos on August 3, 2024.

He is survived by a brother Brian Schweitzberger of Denver, CO; his children Kevin Schweitzberger and Angee Perry of Littleton, CO; and Aimee Taylor of Killeen, TX; and eight grandchildren who will carry his memory forward with love.

A private memorial was held on October 18, 2025, where Kevin’s ashes were scattered with his late wife along Clear Creek near mile marker 264 and Highway 6 — a peaceful place in the mountains he loved, now forever part of the Colorado landscape he called home.

In honor of Kevin’s spirit, those wishing to remember him are encouraged to lend a hand to someone in need, fix something that’s broken, or take a quiet moment to appreciate the simple satisfaction of hard, honest work.
