Edward M. Lesniak, 62, of Aurora, Colorado passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his home on November 17th, 2024.
Ed was born, the youngest of five children, to Leonard and Bernice (Lisak) Lesniak in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Ed’s family eventually relocated to Ridgecrest, California where he graduated from Burroughs High school. He later joined the Air Force and was stationed at Lowry Airforce base where he spent his free time with friends at “the Ranch”.
After proudly serving his country for 4 years, he settled in Colorado where he worked for the United States Post Office as a letter carrier for 35 years before retiring in 2022. He was active in his local branch 47 NALC.
Ed loved restoring cars, fishing, camping, hiking, off-roading, skiing, playing softball, attending concerts, sports and racing events, riding his Harley and spending time with his family. He was a life long Dallas Cowboys fan. In his later years he spent his time driving to Chicago to visit his daughter and grandkids, Colorado Springs for dinners with his sister and brother in law as well as visiting his brothers, nieces and nephews in Ridgecrest.
His greatest joy was being a father. He was unendingly proud of his daughter Nicole and he and his ex wife, Joan Maley, coparented her with the utmost respect for each other and eternal love for Nicole. He was recently promoted to grandpa and his two grandchildren, Theo and Gabi, were the lights of his life. The smile they brought to his face was electric. Ed and Nicole loved attending Rockies and Avalanche games, skiing, fishing, taking roadtrips to visit National Parks, playing softball with his coworkers and watching The Simpsons together.
Ed will be remembered for his wicked sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a one-liner from a movie. He was a cancer survivor, a friend, a hard worker and helper who would plow his neighbors sidewalks and driveways on snowy days. He marched to the beat of his own drum and lived life on his own terms. He was one in a million.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents (Leonard and Bernice). He is survived by daughter Nicole Minca (Eugen); grandchildren Theodore and Gabrielle; brothers Allan Lesniak (Linda), Larry Lesniak (Helen), and Peter Lesniak (Renee), and sister Maryanne Steele (Roger). Ed is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A military burial will occur at Fort Logan next year, followed by a celebration of life. Details to follow.
